Carriage bolts or Mushroom head, square neck bolts are used in wood construction projects where an aesthetic appeal is sought for. The square neck is hammered into the wood which will keep the bolt from rotating while a nut is used to tighten two pieces of material from the threaded portion of the bolt. Usual stock is available as per the below drawing.
